Teachers College Announces 2001
Alumni Award Winners

Each year Teachers College in New York City honors its distinguished alumni. The
following individuals were honored recently for their outstanding contributions to society.

Dr. Betty L. Sullivan, co-founder of Use The News Foundation and its affiliate, Sullivan Communications, Inc., in San Francisco. Dr. Sullivan received an Ed.M. in 1984 and an Ed.D. in 1991 from the Department of Languages, Literature and Social Studies of the College. Additionally, she holds undergraduate and masters degrees from the University of Mississippi.

Dr. Darlene Yee, a Professor of Gerontology in the College of Health and Human Services at San Francisco State University. In addition to her professorship, Yee is Coordinator of Long-Term Care Administration and Director of the Health, Mobility and Safety Laboratory. She is interested in gerontological health education, long-term care administration, and safety research and education.

Dr. Edmund W. Gordon, who received
an Ed.D. in Child Development and Guidance from Teachers College, Columbia University
in 1957, is the John M. Musser Professor Emeritus of Psychology at Yale University and
the Richard March Hoe Professor Emeritus of Psychology and Education at Teachers College. While at Teachers College he was Chairman
of the Department of Guidance, Trustee of the College Entrance Examination Board, Director of the ERIC Clearinghouse in the Education
of the Disadvantaged, and Director of the
Institute on Urban and Minority Education.
He also returned to Teachers College in September of 2000 to act as Interim Dean and Vice President for Academic Affairs.#
