Assistant Principals: Crisis Management to Instructional Expertise

To the Editor:
This article has made me reflect on the idea of becoming an assistant administrator. I have worked in the absence of one and am aware of the responsibilities involved. This article has opened my eyes to the difficulties principals have and how much more my support is needed of them. Thanks for opening my eyes a little more of the expectations and responsibilities that are involved.

Harvard’s Howard Gardner Receives Standing Ovation at Bank Street Event

To the Editor:
The basic premise and information in this article is terse but also correct. Having read this book, I believe the reviewer is still missing two salient points: a) Gardner really wants the learner (of any age) to relish the experience and be intrinsically motivated to accrue even more knowledge and information and value the process as well as the applications and inferences. b) Gardner wants the learner to build a structure of social skills that promote the notion of idea sharing; integration of information through familiarity and human inter-connection for the mutual benefit of all human elements. He is, in fact, reminding all leaders to set a moral prerogative and an inspired respect for others while honing cognitive skills and applications and recognizes that education is so much more than skills and facts. It must encompass a respect for the human spirit and values that transcend goals and objectives.

President Edison O. Jackson, Medgar Evers College

To the Editor:
This article inspires me greatly and it’s a means of cementing my belief, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Dr. Jackson surely is a pillar of strength and hope, and as a MEC Graduate and Early Childhood Educator at Medgar Evers College Child Development Center, I remain strong, holding on to Dr. Jackson’s powerful words that leaves me with no option but to aspire to reach the very top of my educational journey, firm in my belief that, “I can, I will, I must.”

To Moscow State University for St. Tatiana’s Day, the Students’ Holiday!

To the Editor:
I have been to Moscow and seen MSU but had no idea of this celebration. I was pleased to read about it. It seems in line with the Russian intellectual tradition, which has persisted despite the never-ending political turmoil.
