Important Events Around the Nation

OSEP Joint Personnel Preparation/ State/Improvement/CSPD Conference, will be held at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington D.C., from February 19 to February 21. The theme for the 2003 Joint Conference is Leaving No Child With A Disability Behind: Building Coordinated Systems for Preparing and Supporting Highly Qualified Personnel.

The Office of Special Education Programs will be holding a Special Education Summit in June 2003. IDEA Partnerships, the sponsor of the Summit is a group created and funded by the US Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) to deliver a common message about the landmark 1997 reauthorization of the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA).

July 22-24: West Virginia “Issues in Diversity, Overrepresentation, Personnel Standards, School Climate and Discipline, Family Involvement, and Standards Based Reform.”

October 18-19: New Hampshire “Children and Adolescents, Shared Responsibility-Shared Benefits.”

November 1: Indiana “Accountability for All Students.”
