Chess-in-the-Schools is dedicated to improving academic performance and building self-esteem among inner-city public school children. Through structured classroom, after-school, weekend and summer programs that involve 38,000 students and alumni each year, the organization uses chess as an educational tool to promote learning and to help young people develop skills in critical thinking and problem solving. Chess-in-the-Schools’ programs are designed to train and motivate young people to help them achieve their fullest academic and personal potential. The organization is funded through a partnership of corporations, foundations and individual supporters.#
